The Naked Truth

"Erinsborough News", BBCi, April 2004

Ben Nicholas plays young tearaway Scott Timmins or Stingray as eveyone calls him. He met the cast and crew for the first time during his very first scene. Although this may seem like a normal turn of events, Ben's first scene was very similar to Daniel McPherson's debut on the The Bill, extremely revealing! So it wasn't the easiest of introductions.

"My first scene was a streaking scene," said Ben, "I had to streak at a footy game, that's how I get introduced. That was my first scene on my first day! I did it in the middle of Optus oval and it was very cold. I was freezing, but everyone was really nice. I was really nervous, because I hadn't met anyone yet, but everyone was really cool about it."

His character

When asked whether Ben could tells us a bit more about his character, he said,

"Toadie takes him under his wing and he lives with Toadie for a while. He's mad about skateboarding and he has a crush on Serena."

Previous experience

Although still only young, Ben has studied drama, singing and Jazz, Tap and Classical dance for over a decade.

"I have mainly come from a theatre background," he said. "I did Oliver here I played the Artful Dodger and I did The Sound of Music. I've done a little bit of TV. I'm doing a little mini-series at the moment called Scooter."

Something you may not know is that in 2000 Ben sang the National Anthem at the SANFL Football Grand Final. Now that's brave!
